On September 21st, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded $59,098 to the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC).  The funds will be used for mechanical integrity tests on Class III underground injection wells and to provide assistance to injection well operators during the drilling, completion, and reporting of wells. 

 

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $59,098 to the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC).  The funds will be used to perform mechanical integrity tests on Class III underground injection wells and to provide assistance to injection well operators during the drilling, completion, and reporting of wells.  The RRC will continue work on a special project to digitize injection well Mechanical Integrity Test (MIT) reports.  This digitization will allow for ongoing environmental improvement over time through better management of permitted injection wells throughout Texas.
