HB 500 (Eissler) was debated on the House floor today. HB 500 gives school districts the flexibility to develop their own policies for determining students’ eligibility to graduate from high school while districts transition to End-Of-Course (EOC) assessment instruments. HB 500 also outlines the requirements for each graduation plan and states that districts have until 2017 to fully transition to the use of EOC assessment instruments.
Rep. Rob Eissler said the bill is needed to address the challenges that were presented with the passage of HB 3 last session.
HB 500 was passed to third reading with 6 amendments. One adopted amendment was from Rep. Scott Hochberg which inserted language for “actual” rather than “projected” growth on test scores.
