A Texas Education Agency (TEA) letter sent to school administrators this month confirms previously announced reductions in OEYP.

In anticipation of a projected budget shortfall in the upcoming biennium, all state agencies were recently instructed by the Governor’s Office of Budget, Planning, and Policy and the Legislative Budget Board to propose a 5 percent biennial budget reduction to their 2010-2011 General Revenue and General Revenue-Dedicated appropriations.

The OEYP is included in this budget reduction and will not be funded for the 2010-2011 school year. District grantees that are currently funded will NOT face a reduction in their current grant award amount for the 2009-2010 school year.
