Today marked the 60th day of the 85th session and the deadline for filing bills and joint resolutions other than local bills, emergency appropriations, and bills that have been declared an emergency by the governor.
 
As of this evening, the preliminary information on Texas Legislature Online (TLO) shows there has been more bills filed this session than the previous three sessions with a total of 4,250 House Bills and 2,235 Senate Bills filed for a grand total of 6,485 HB’s & SB’s.
 
In comparison, during the 84th (R) on the 60th day, the preliminary information showed:
4,114 House Bills and 1,993 Senate Bills for a total of 6,107 HB’s & SB’s*.
 
*Note the final totals were larger with 4,207 House Bills filed and 2,069 Senate Bills filed for a total of 6,276 House and Senate Bills filed for the entire 84th Regular Session.
