During the Primary Runoff Election, with over 90% of the precincts in, Jeff Blaylock reports just under 3% of the registered voters participated in the Republican Runoff. However, that amount would still represent the third most voters in a statewide Republican Runoff since 1996. Democratic turnout was almost 1.25% of the registered voters.

Below is an updated spotlight on the March 24 Primary Runoffs – with 99% or more of the precincts reported (unless stated otherwise). For more details you can also visit the Texas Secretary of State site.

Railroad Commission Runoffs
Republican – Wayne Christian captured 50.88% of the votes over Gary Gates – with 93% of the precincts reporting
Democrat – Grady Yarbrough received over 53.86% of the votes over Cody Garrett

State Board of Education Runoffs
SBOE District 6 Democrat Runoff – R. Dakota Carter garnered 62.44% of the votes over Jasmine L. Jenkins   
SBOE District 9 Republican Runoff (open seat) –Keven M. Ellis captured 59.19% of the votes over Mary Lou Bruner

House Incumbent Runoffs
Republican
HD 73 –Kyle Biedermann captured 55.39% of the votes over Incumbent Doug Miller
HD 128 – Briscoe Cain captured 50.18% of the votes over Incumbent Wayne Smith

Democrat
HD 27 – Incumbent Ron Reynolds received 52.90% of the votes over Angelique Bartholomew

HD 120 – Barbara Gervin-Hawkins garnered 55.82% of the votes over Mario Salas
HD 139 – Jarvis D. Johnson received 53.04% of the votes over Kimberly Willis

Republican
SD 1 –  Bryan Hughes captured 69.31% of the votes over David Simpson
SD 24 – Dawn Buckingham captured 61.34% of the votes over Susan King
HD 5 – Cole Hefner garnered 60.40% of the votes over Jay Misenheimer
HD 18 – Ernest Bailes received 67.42% of the votes over Keith Strahan
HD 33 –Justin Holland captured 50.18% of the votes over John Keating – with 97.78% of the precincts reporting
HD 54 – Scott Cosper garnered 50.43% of the votes over Austin Ruiz
HD 64 – Lynn Stucky garnered 65.74% of the votes over Read King
