Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Bob Borochoff, Molly Curl, Phillip Holt and Matt Moore for terms set to expire on February 1, 2022, to the Finance Commission of Texas. The Governor additionally named Stacy G. London as presiding officer. The Finance Commission is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Texas Department of Banking, the Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending, and the Office of the Consumer Credit Commissioner and serves as the primary point of accountability for ensuring that state depository and lending institutions function as a system, considering the broad scope of the financial services industry.
Bob Borochoff of Houston is owner and CEO of Café Adobe Restaurants. Since 1982, Borochoff owned many historic Houston eateries including Boston Sea Party, Dave's, and The Back Bay. He was the creator and producer of the iconic Party On the Plaza and Funday In the Park music series in the eighties and nineties and owned one of the largest catering businesses in Houston during that time. Borochoff is immediate past chairman of government relations for the Greater Houston Partnership and immediate past vice chairman of The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD. Previously, Borochoff has held leadership positions as a director of the National Restaurant Association and was twice President of the Houston Restaurant Association. He is a volunteer for the HEART Program, a non-profit specializing in the training and employment of intellectually and physical disabled adults. Borochoff studied at California State University at Fullerton and the University of Houston.
Molly Curl of Richardson is a partner with Grant Thornton LLP. Prior to that, she was part of the senior management team for entities controlled by Beal Financial Corporation. Curl began her career with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in Chicago and Dallas, as a national bank examiner. She is a director and treasurer for the Children’s Eye Foundation. Previously, she served as a director for OPEN, Inc., and St. Paul School. Curl earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from John Carroll University. She is also a Texas licensed certified public accountant.
Phillip Holt of Bonham is a senior vice president of Security Finance Company. Holt is a member of the American Financial Services Association, National Installment Lenders Association and Texas Consumer Finance Association. He serves as a volunteer for the Fannin County Children’s Advocacy Center. He previously served as a board member for the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame Museum. Holt earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Texas Permian Basin.
Matt Moore of Amarillo is director of market operations for Golden Spread Electric Cooperative, Inc.. Moore enjoys serving at Hillside Christian Church currently as a 6th grade boys Sunday school teacher and also coaching for West Texas Youth Baseball Association. Moore earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University.
Stacy G. London of Houston is president of Houston Capital Mortgage. She is a member of the Texas Mortgage Bankers and Houston Mortgage Bankers Associations. London is a past member of the Texas Savings & Mortgage Lending Advisory Board and past director of the Houston Mortgage Bankers and Texas Mortgage Brokers Associations. London earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston. She is a Certified Mortgage Consultant.
