The State Board of Education (SBOE) will meet January 26-29 and the agenda has been posted. On the 26th the SBOE will hear public testimony regarding Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for English Language Arts and Reading for elementary, middle school and high school. Public testimony will also be taken regarding TEKS for Spanish Language Arts and Reading and English as a Second Language. The SBOE will also review and approve a process to be used by the board in streamlining the TEKS for science and social studies. Additionally, the SBOE will hear updates on the Texas Commission on Next Generation Assessments and Accountability and the Public School Network Capabilities Study.
