Today is the last day to vote early for the November 4 General Election.  “As of the end of 10 days of early voting (yesterday), the total number of early votes cast in the state’s 15 most populous counties is just 0.6% more than at this point in 2010. It is 52% behind 2012,” according to the Texas Election Source.
Furthermore, the Election Source points out that in the Texas Governor Race, together Attorney General Greg Abbott and Sen. Wendy Davis have “raised more than $83 million toward their respective campaigns, making this the most expensive general election in the state’s history (Neither candidate had a significant primary opponent.).” The figure would be higher if contributions from Battleground Texas and the Texas Victory Committee were included. The Election Source analysis also points out that between the October 2010 and October 2014 UT/Texas Tribune poll differences are minimal and Republicans still lead all statewide races polled – “many of the spreads are virtually identical to the races in 2010, despite the fact that every one of them has a different Republican candidate.”
