The Texas Board of Nursing has proposed new 22 TAC Chapter 221, §§221.1 – 221.15, concerning Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs). Most of the proposed changes to the chapter re-organize and/or clarify the existing provisions of Chapter 221 and do not introduce new subject matter. Some of the proposed changes, however, are more substantive in nature and codify existing Board policy in rule and align Chapter 221 with the APRN Consensus Model and the National Council State Boards of Nursing model rules.

The Board has also proposed the repeal of Chapter 221, §§221.1 – 221.4 and §§221.6 – 221.17, concerning Advanced Practice Nurses. This repeal is necessary due to the new sections being proposed for APRNs.
