Gov. Rick Perry, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and House Speaker Joe Straus, who ordered the 5% budget reductions in January, have been reviewing agency plans for budget cuts. While rumors abound which agencies and programs will be spared from the cut, the expected publication of the decisions will be forthcoming in the next few days. During the breakfast forum on Wednesday Dewhurst also said some agencies were allowed to go below the 5% requested reduction cuts.
Dewhurst reiterated that no essential programs were cut.
As noted above, both Straus and Dewhurst are considering the need for additional agency budget reductions.
