TEA has proposed and adopted multiple rule changes, which were filed in the May 16, 2025 issue of the Texas Register.

The following rules changes were made to the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) regarding SBOE:

  • Proposed New 19 TAC Chapter 127 – The proposed new section would establish Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills in employability skills for effective performance in the workplace. The employability skills standards would be required to be taught as a part of each career and technical education course.
  • Adopted New 19 TAC Chapter 67 – The new section implements House Bill 1605 (88-R) by outlining the local process requirements for a parent to petition for a review of instructional materials. The new section was adopted without changes since published as proposed. This change is effective as of May 25, 2025.

The following rule changes were made to the TAC regarding the Commissioner of Education:

  • Proposed Repeal of 19 TAC Chapter 61 – The proposed repeal would relocate the existing requirements to 19 TAC Chapter 97 with no changes to the content of the rules.
  • Proposed New 19 TAC Chapter 97 – The proposed new sections would relocate existing requirements from 19 TAC Chapter 61 with no changes to the content of the rules.
