The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has released correspondence to notify districts that the 2026 campus pairing registration for state academic accountability is open. The deadline is 5:00pm on May 8, 2026.

Campuses that serve prekindergarten through grade 12 students have to receive an accountability rating. Campuses which only serve grades that are not tested on the STAAR test have to be paired with another campus within its respective district or paired directly with the district itself.

Districts can select a new pairing relationship by completing the paring form in the TEAL Accountability application, or they can use the prior year pairing relationship. If no preference is selected on the pairing form, TEA will make the pairing decision. TEA will assume that a prior pairing relationship still applies for campuses that have previously been paired.

The Campus Pairing Guidelines can be found on the 2026 Accountability Rating System webpage. The full correspondence from TEA can be found here.
