In the special election to fill Glenn Hegar’s seat in the Senate, Rep. Lois Kolkhorst (R-Brenham) has received 55.69% of the total votes. With 100% of the precincts reporting, Kolkhorst will become the next Senator to represent District 18.

Hegar resigned his seat after being elected as the next Comptroller in the November General Election. Now that Kolkhorst will be moving into the Senate, a special election will be necessary to fill Kolkhorst’s seat in House District 13.

Some potential candidates have already been mentioned in anticipation that an HD 13 special election would take place. Those people include Schulenberg geologist and former Railroad Commission candidate Becky Berger (R), five-term Austin County Judge Carolyn Bilski (R) from Sealy, Caldwell attorney Leighton Schubert (R), and retired army Colonel Cecil Webster (D) from Carmine.
