Today bill author Sen. Steve Ogden laid out SB 1580 as substituted, a fiscal matters bill relating to article II, on the Senate floor. The bill increases certain regulatory fees by 5 percent, certain laboratory fees by 12 percent and certain child-care licensing fees by three times the current amount, according to Sen. Ogden.

The first time the bill was brought up Sen. Ogden did not garner enough votes to suspend in order to lay out SB 1580. However, later in the day with 24 ayes and 7 nays the rules were suspended and CSSB 1580 was laid out before the Senate. One amendment was adopted which strikes Article I leaving the bill primarily as a fee bill. CSSB 1580 will generate about $9 million for the biennium.

CSSB 1580, as amended, received tentative approval in the Senate by passing to third reading with 23 ayes and 8 nays.
