The Environmental Protection Agency announced a proposal for air pollution standards for large facilities that burn municipal solid waste. The updated standards would reduce emissions of nine pollutants
- particulate matter;
- carbon monoxide;
- dioxins/furans;
- sulfur dioxide;
- nitrogen oxides;
- hydrogen chloride;
- lead;
- mercury; and
- cadmium.
The proposed standards would apply to 57 facilities with 152 units. The EPA will accept comment on the proposal for 60 days after publication in the Federal Register. More information on the proposal and the upcoming EPA informational webinar can be found here.
