SB 2 (Creighton/Huffman/et. al) Relating to public school finance

  • Was referred to Senate Finance on October 9th and was heard and voted out of committee (15-0) on October 9th.
  • Yesterday the bill was passed out of the Senate (30-1) with 5 amendments. The bill will now head to the House for further consideration.

SB 4 (Flores/et. al) Relating to the punishment for certain criminal conduct involving the smuggling of persons or the operation of a stash house was referred to Senate Border Security on October 9th.

  • The bill was heard and voted out of committee (5-0) on October 10th.
  • Yesterday the bill was passed out of the Senate (29-2) with 1 amendment. The bill will now head to the House for further consideration.

SB 7 (Middleton/et. al) Relating to prohibiting an employer from adopting or enforcing certain COVID-19 vaccine mandates was referred to Senate Health & Human Services on October 9th.

  • The bill was heard and voted out of committee (6-3) on October 10th. Yesterday the bill was passed out of the Senate (19-12) with 3 amendments.
  • The bill will now head to the House for further consideration.

SB 11 (Birdwell/et. al) Relating to the creation of the criminal offense of improper entry from a foreign nation was referred to Senate Border Security on October 9th.

  • The bill was heard and voted out of committee (3-2) on October 11th. Yesterday the bill was passed out of the Senate (19-12) with no amendments.
  • The bill will now head to the House for further consideration.

House

The House met on Monday, October 9, and Thursday, October 12, to conduct routine procedural business. As of 9:30 AM, 7 border security related bills have been referred to House State Affairs, but House committees have not yet scheduled hearings.
