Early voting across Texas started yesterday and will continue through Friday, October 30. Reports from certain counties are showing record-breaking numbers while others show similar numbers to the 2016 presidential election.
In Harris County more than 128k ballots were cast in person and over 41k mail-in ballots dropped off, according to the Harris County Clerk’s office. During the 2016 presidential election when approximately 68k ballots were cast on the first day. Harris County has 122 early voting locations and 10 drive-thru voting sites.
In Dallas County more than 59k ballots were cast in person and nearly 29k mail-in ballots returned as of October 13, according to the Dallas County Clerk’s office. During the 2016 presidential election, there were more than 58k ballots cast. There are 61 early voting locations in Dallas County.
In Tarrant County more than 42k ballots were cast in person and more than 35K mail-in ballots were received, according to Tarrant County. During the first day of early voting for the 2016 presidential election, there were approximately 43K ballots cast and approximately 22K mail-in ballots. There are a total of 50 early voting locations in Tarrant County.
In Bexar County more than 33k ballots were cast in person and nearly 50k mail-in ballots have come into the elections office to date. During the 2016 presidential election, there were 35k people who cast ballots on the first day and the entire total for all days for mail-in ballots was around 39k. They have a total of 48 early voting locations. Voter registrations in Bexar County have increased by almost 13 percent compared to the 2016 presidential election.
In Travis County more than 35k ballots were cast in person and over 22k mail-in ballots were received, according to the Travis County Clerk’s office. During the 2016 presidential election, there were approximately 2,200 fewer ballots cast and nearly 3k mail-in ballots. According to the Travis County clerk’s office, there are a total of 37 early voting locations. 97% of eligible voters in Travis County are registered to vote in the November 3rd general election.
