Today the Senate Business & Commerce Committee is meeting to hear invited testimony on the following items:

  • Assess recent electric generation shortages and the plans to enhance electric reliability in the ERCOT power generation system.
  • Status of implementation of SB 2, SB 3, SB 2154, and related legislation from the 87th Legislative Session.
  • Review of the provisions of and directives in the July 6, 2021 letter sent by Governor Abbott to the Public Utility Commission.
  • Determine what, if any, legislative actions are necessary to implement the directives outlined within the Governor’s July 6, 2021 letter and consider any further legislative action necessary to strengthen and achieve these directives with an emphasis on improving long term electric reliability in the state of Texas.

On Wednesday, July 14, the House State Affairs Committee will meet to hear invited testimony from the PUC, ERCOT and IMM. Testimony will relate to the status of the Texas electrical grid and energy market.
