The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has released its 2019 Toxics Release Inventory National Analysis. The report covers TRI chemical waste management activities, including releases, that occurred during calendar year 2019. Data shows that between 2018 and 2019 total releases of TRI chemicals decreased by 9 percent. In the Pacific Southwest data shows a 3 percent increase in chemical releases. Facilities reported managing 30.7 billion pounds of TRI-listed chemicals as production-related waste during 2019, and 89 percent of which was recycled, combusted for energy recovery, or treated.
