Permanent School Fund Corporation Board of Directors

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Todd A. Williams and Brad Wright to the Permanent School Fund Corporation Board of Directors, to terms that will expire as provided by Senate Bill 1232 of the 87th Legislature. The newly-created board will oversee the investment of the multi-billion dollar Permanent School Fund which is a source of funding for Texas public schools.

Governor’s Broadband Development Council

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Schelana Hock, Jack Kelanic, and Ray Scifres to the Governor’s Broadband Development Council for terms set to expire on August 31, 2026. The council was created by the 86th Legislature in 2019 and expanded by the 87th Legislature in 2021. The council studies and identifies ways to provide internet access to underserved areas of Texas.

Last week, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced the appointments of Sergio Contreras, Robert F. McGee and Scott R. Muri, Ed. D., to the Broadband Development Office Board of Advisors. This board provides guidance to the Broadband Development Office regarding the expansion, adoption, affordability, and use of broadband service and the programs administered by the office.

Small Business Assistance Advisory Task Force

Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Eduardo Contreras and Lisa Fullerton to the Small Business Assistance Advisory Task Force for terms set to expire June 14, 2023. The task force advises and assists the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Speaker of the House with issues that relate to small businesses and provides information in plain language to the public on issues related to small businesses.

Private Sector Advisory Council

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed 11 members to the Private Sector Advisory Council for terms to expire at the pleasure of the Governor. The council advises the Governor on homeland security issues that are pertinent to the private sector. Members appointed can be found below:

Joint Interim Committee to Study Land Banks

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Leslie Bingham, Anna Maria Farías, Ernest Richards, and Carl Pankratz to the Joint Interim Committee to Study Land Banks. The Governor has designated Leslie Bingham as the committee’s presiding officer. Their terms of appointment will expire on September 1, 2023, when state law provides that the committee is abolished. Created by the 87th Texas Legislature, the committee is tasked with studying the powers of land banks to acquire and dispose of real property, the impact of land banks affordable housing, the funding mechanisms of land banks, and more.
