The House Committee on Appropriations met on March 11 to review riders adopted into the House version of the state budget.

This report is intended to give you an overview and highlight of the discussions on the various topics the committee took up. It is not a verbatim transcript of the hearing, but is based upon what was audible or understandable to the observer and the desire to get details out as quickly as possible with few errors or omissions.

  • $4.5 m in GR for border security
  • $10 m for grants for sexual assault education & training for acute care
  • $3m for specialized vet treatment courts
  • $2m+$10m for indigent defense
  • Additional funding to improve state crime lab, $2m to allow DPS to contract with Sam Houston University for training
  • $2m to reimburse DAs for testing & expedite process
  • Funding for body cams as well
