On May 3rd the House Committee on Public Education and Economic and Small business development met in a joint hearing to discuss the integration of skills training into public education. They heard testimony on CTE programs, the existing skills gap how public education can better train students for the workforce. Witnesses discussed the success of HB 5 (83rd) as well as the challenges of liability insurance coverage for internships and sustainable funding for technical programs. Committees also heard testimony on the benefits of businesses and public education partnerships.
