Two impending deadlines continue to add tension during floor discussions. Tonight is the deadline for the last House Daily Calendar with HBs/HJRs to be distributed and Thursday, May 11th, will be the last day House-originated bills can be considered on 2nd reading.

Combined with the pressure to get bills on calendars or taken up before deadlines pass, certain maneuvers today further strained House relationships. The House Local and Consent Calendar taken up not only took longer than usual to move through but over 20 bills were also “knocked off” or withdrawn.

Many HBs/HJRs missing the midnight deadline on May 11th means those House bills may be considered in large part dead, however; the bill language could hitch a ride on another bill as an amendment.

As deadlines loom, HillCo will continue to watch the progress of legislation and provide key updates. It should also be noted that the first half of the deadlines below will occur in the House chamber.
