In the Special Runoff election for SD 4, Rep. Brandon Creighton is leading in the early vote total with 9,882 votes (69.61%) to Rep. Steve Toth who has garnered 4,314 votes (30.38%).
Sen. Tommy Williams, R-The Woodlands, resigned last year from the Senate, where he was chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, to take a job as vice chancellor of federal and state relations at the Texas A&M University System.
Senate District 4 includes Chambers and Jefferson counties as well as parts of Galveston, Harris, and Montgomery counties.
