Today at 1:00 PM the 88th 3rd Called Special Session will begin. The Governor’s proclamation with agenda items on the call for the special session can be found here.

As of 12:00 PM 113 bills have been filed for the third called special session.

Legislative Hearings

See below for a snapshot of currently scheduled hearings as of this morning at 9:00 AM. We anticipate more postings in the near future.

The Senate Finance Committee will hold a public hearing on Monday, October 9 at 2:00 PM in E1.036, regarding legislation that includes teacher compensation and funding for public schools. Public testimony will be limited to 2 minutes.

The Senate Committee on Education will hold a public hearing on proposed legislation creating an Education Savings Account Program to provide additional educational options to assist families in exercising the right to direct the educational needs of their children. The hearing will be held Tuesday, October 10 at 9:30 AM in E1.028. Public testimony will be limited to 2 minutes.

The Senate Committee on Health & Human Services will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 10 at 9:30 AM or upon adjournment in the Senate Chamber regarding proposed legislation prohibiting COVID-19 vaccine mandates by private employers.

The Senate Committee on Border Security will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 10 at 2:00 PM in E1.016 regarding proposed legislation relating to the following:

  • creating a criminal offense for improper entry into this state from a foreign nation; and
  • increasing the penalties for certain criminal conduct involving the smuggling of persons or the operation of a stash house.
