Some examples of modifications that teachers have made include changing instructional resources, avoiding certain topics, and being attentive to the words they use. Teachers also reported that the need to consider perspectives of multiple stakeholders and conflicting viewpoints has added to the stress of their profession. Teachers would benefit from more guidance and support in dealing with complex issues, according to the report. Another recommendation is that educators communicate the instructional value of potentially controversial topics for students.
