One historic “first” in 2020 was that this was the first fall that Texas student enrolment declined compared to the previous year. Bob Templeton, of Zonda Education (formerly Templeton Demographics), explains that when factoring in the anticipated growth that should have occurred in fall 2020 according to past trends, the state lost over 211,000 students. This decline disproportionately impacted early learners. Bob predicts this will set us up for historic GAIN in enrollment in the fall of 2021 as many of these families send their children to school.
