See below for notes on hearings held so far on the Robb Elementary shooting, as well as a list of upcoming hearings. Witnesses before the House Investigative Committee were interviewed in closed session, the notes below reflect comments made outside of closed session.

House Investigative Committee on the Robb Elementary Shooting – June 9, 2022

The Committee met in executive session to hear witness testimony from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, recessed from 12:00 PM to 12:35 PM, and then convened in executive session again from 12:35 PM to 2:39 PM before returning briefly and adjourning. No portion of the witness testimony was open to the public at this hearing.

Upon return from executive session, Chair Burrows made a few comments:

  • Chair Burrows – No actions were taken during executive session
  • Heard testimony, had a briefing from DPS, and committee members have begun to review physical evidence, members will continue to review physical evidence individually as well
  • Will meet again next and continue to hear from witnesses
  • Will continue to review as a committee, individually, visit with more individuals, before more information & conclusions are revealed

House Investigative Committee on the Robb Elementary Shooting – June 16, 2022

Opening Comments

  • Members express condolences for the victims of the Robb Elementary shooting
  • Chair Burrows – Committee is charged with investigating the shooting at the Robb Elementary School; aim to get answers to lingering questions
  • Will hear from several witnesses connected to Robb Elementary and Uvalde ISD
  • Guzman – Will follow the facts in order to aid in the legislative process; aim to produce the information the legislature needs to protect our children
  • Moody – Promise to this community to find solutions and handle this with care
  • Chair Burrows – At some time today, will reconvene in open session for additional remarks
  • Committee moves to meet in executive session

Closing Comments

  • Chair Burrows – Most have cooperated with this committee including Uvalde ISD PD and the school’s principal
  • Chair Burrows – It is a question mark whether the Uvalde Police Department itself will visit with us voluntarily; will see if they do that or not

House Investigative Committee on the Robb Elementary Shooting – June 17, 2022

Opening Comments

  • Chair Burrows – Committee was given access to the elementary this morning
  • Chair Burrows – Want to hear from all sides before the members of this committee sign off on the findings of this investigation
  • Guzman delivers opening comments in Spanish
  • Committee moves to meet in executive session

Closing Comments

  • Chair Burrows – No decisions were made or voted on in executive session
  • Chair Burrows – Had conversations today with the City of Uvalde and the City of Uvalde Police Department and they will be cooperating with the committee and will have representatives who will testify
  • Chair Burrows – Will have another hearing Monday in Uvalde and hearing Tuesday will be in Austin

House Investigative Committee on the Robb Elementary Shooting – 6/20/22 at 10:00 AM

The committee will meet to hear invited testimony from law enforcement authorities and other affected parties related to the facts and circumstances of the events relating to the violent acts, shootings, and murders at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. Because of the quasi-judicial nature of the committee’s investigation and pursuant to House Rule 4, Section 12, witnesses will be examined in executive session.

The committee will meet to hear invited testimony from law enforcement authorities and other affected parties related to the facts and circumstances of the events relating to the violent acts, shootings, and murders at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. Joint House Homeland Security & Public Safety and House Select Youth Health & Safety – 6/23/22 at 10:00 AM

The committee will meet to hear invited testimony on the following interim charges:

  • Study the implementation and impact of Senate Bill 11 (86th Legislature, Regular Session) and any other pertinent laws.
  • Examine strategies to prevent acts of violence, including measures to enhance firearm safety in Texas.
  • Evaluate the preparedness of and coordination between state and local agencies, nongovernmental entities, and law enforcement for the prevention of and response to mass violence.
